Symposium language
The Symposium language is English. No simultaneous translation will be provided.
Injuries
The Symposium organisers cannot accept any liability for personal injuries or for loss or damage to properties belonging to the Symposium attendees, either during the Symposium or during the whole stay. Please check the validity of your own insurance before coming to the Symposium.
Electricity
Electricity in Italy is 220 volts, 50 cycle alternating current (AC). The plugs are different from the US and Japan, therefore attendees from these countries will need a voltage converter and plug adapters.
Credit Cards
The major credit cards (VISA/MASTERCARD/EUROCARD) are widely accepted in Italy, while AMEX is rarely accepted. Hotels, shops and restaurants have signs or stickers at the entrance showing which credit cards are accepted.
Climate
The September climate in the Bressanone area is usually mild and sunny with average temperatures between 18 C (65 F) and 25 C (77 F). An all-weather coat will take chill of cool evenings and rainy days. Be aware that Bressanone is around 560 mt above see level in the Alpine region, therefore confortable walking shoes, warm sweaters and a water-proof jacket are recommended.
Trip and Social Dinner
The destination of the social trip is an astonishing mountain area known as Alpe di Siusi. The participants will reach a cozy alpine chalet (Williamshuette, 2150 mt. above sea level) by bus and by chair-lift. Then, after a light snack, an easy walk downhill (approximately 90 min) will bring them to the restaurant (Hotel Floralpina, 1750 mt. above sea level) where the social dinner will be served. As an alternative, the chair-lift can be used for the trip back to the restaurant (attention! Last ride at 17:30).
The Alpe di Siusi can be reached by bus only with special permits. Also, the single or return tickets for the chair-lift must be reserved in advance. For these reasons, it is mandatory for the symposium partecipants to confirm the attendance to the social trip and dinner when registering at the Symposium desk upon arrival. The trip participants will need confortable hiking (or sport) shoes, a warm sweater and a rainproof jacket.
